MUSKINGUM COUNTY
INCLEMENT WEATHER
ADVISORY SYSTEM
Muskingum
County Law Enforcement will begin using color "code" levels,
represented by a traffic light, to inform motorists about the conditions
of roadways in the County. The color code level will be used in
lieu of the "Level 1 - 3 process" beginning December 2009.
Officials of Muskingum
County evaluated the current system and determined that law enforcement
will announce the conditions of roadways, and allow businesses and agencies
to regulate operations based on their own self-interests. Businesses and
agencies may have to re-evaluate their policies for inclement weather.
It is important that
law enforcement and public safety officials work together with the media
to communicate changing weather conditions. We respectfully ask that motorists
of Muskingum County observe and obey the following guidelines and stipulations:
 |
CODE RED:
Roadway conditions have severely worsened. Inclement
weather has affected the treatment and/or clearing of roadways. Roadways
will remain hazardous until further notice. It is recommended that
only emergency and safety crews be on the roadways. |
 |
CODE YELLOW:
Roadway conditions are declining. Inclement weather
has caused roadways to become covered with precipitation. Public safety
crews are present on roadways. Motorists must use extreme caution.
Use judgment on road conditions versus necessity of travel. |
 |
CODE
GREEN:
Roadway conditions are under advisory. Inclement weather
is in the area and adversely affecting traveling conditions. Public
safety crews are beginning to convene on roadways. Motorists must
use caution. |
